Catfish Stew


  • 1 large fresh catfish filet 1 ½ pounds
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp minced scallions
  • 1 tbsp butter


  • In a large skillet over medium heat place olive oil and butter
  • Salt and pepper catfish on both sides and then place in skillet.
  • Lightly sear on both sides then remove from pan and dice into medium size pieces.
  • Add garlic and onions and lightly saute.
  • Add flour to skillet and stir.
  • Add milk and cream and stir to combine.
  • Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer and place diced catfish back in skillet and stir.
  • Let simmer for 2-3 minutes until catfish is done.
  • Add tbsp of butter to skillet and lightly stir.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
